With smaller equipment and softer balls equipment works great in school gyms.
Quite a few years ago I approached a
principal at Vincent Massey School and asked if we could bring tennis to the kids.
She loved the idea but told us that we would be dangling a carrot in front of the kids
because it was something that most kids
in the school couldn't afford. I couldn't believe it but as the years have gone
on we now know that many families are using the Food Bank to make ends meet. The
poverty rate has increased and many families can't afford to put their kids in
organized sport. These kids tend to
lack self confidence, do poorer in school and fight childhood obesity. We tackle this by
bringing tennis equipment to schools but we also provide our on court program for free as we want no child to be left out!
