![]() Bringing tennis to the streets is more of a challenge than I imagined. Thousands of kids, who would benefit so much from our programming, live in these areas but with lack of communication we had to get creative. So out came the signs, and on a nice day we traveled the area putting up signs in high profile areas. I was so excited as two boys were riding their bikes and noticed the sign. "Where is tennis going to be, and when can I go," the little boy asked. So I gave him all the details with a big smile on my face knowing that when he comes, his life will be changed in a positive way forever.

We are very pleased to announce that we have received a $17,100 grant for "Tennis on the Streets" a new program that brings tennis to kids on the streets where they live.
What an amazing opportunity to receive an Ontario Trillium Grant that will make such a positive impact in our community in so many ways. Lack of transportation and for financial reasons so many children don't have access to programs that allow them to learn skills to play sport for life. Through this grant we are able to break down barriers and help bring the South East Ottawa Community together, by taking our program to the streets where these children live. Through fun tennis programs that provide all the equipment, teaching and physical literacy skills in a fun team environment these many children will have several doors opened for them. Through our programming children will have the required skills to play any sport, the confidence to believe they can, and the essential life skills, such as perseverance, honesty, respect, teamwork, commitment and integrity that will forever change their lives in a positive way. It is a precious gift and privilege to be involved in such an important and life changing program for the community. We thank the Ontario Trillium Foundation for this positive experience. |
