Implementation of a no Waste Environment

Stage 1: New Ball Program to replace medals

Part of creating healthier communities is dealing with the amount of waste every year.

I thought a lot about it and realized that so many balls are going to the landfill, but the other problem was that so many medals were also. So we created a program that combined both. As a charity it was also an amazing way to cut our costs.

For the Girls Set Match Event we gave each girl a ball that was decorated with a word on it. We used the word grace for this event because I gave the girls a talk about how important it was if you won or lost you should show grace to your opponent. One of the girl's playing in the event was my granddaughter. I couldn't believe that after she received the ball she taped the box it came in onto her wall with the ball on top so when she goes into her room that is what she sees. It actually brought tears to my eyes and then I found out my grandson who received a ball in his round robin event did the same thing. These really have meaning behind them because it comes with a story. I will use a word and then base a story on it to the kids so it has meaning to it.

Box Design
The box was designed so each ball can fit in it. On one side of the box is a picture of two girls who were in our program, the logo on the other side and our core values on the top.

One side a picture of myself with a personal message that says: A place where fun and play changes lives! The combination of hard work, faith in possibilities, and perseverance can transform your life. Dream Big! I believe in you.

The last side says:
This ball tells the stories of those who have held it: the new player taking their first swing, the coach inspiring the next generation, the competition pushing for excellence, and even the dreamer envisioning a future of health, happiness and success. Each bounce, scuff and mark is a testament to its journey and the lives it has touched..

The ball program is very important to our organization and one is given to every child who comes through our organization.

I look at balls differently now and notice how used they get with every stroke. Just like the picture below it tells a million stories of who has played with it. I love that about this program. Once a child receives the ball as a gift in its tiny box and doesn't want it anymore it is returned so we can use it again.

Please save all your balls for us.  We will provide a special message to each child, providing inspiration, empowerment and encouragement so they can believe in their dreams.
You can email us and we will gladly pick them up.

Thanks so much for your support

Every Ball has an amazing journey
